There are plenty of foods that have been said to be not so good for you because of having high fat or calorie content. You would automatically think that foods that are loaded with fat and calories would not be good for you. However, the fact of the matter is you have to factor in the nutrimental aspect of the food. While some foods may be high in fat and calories, they also have some important nutrients that will help keep you healthy – and full!

1. Nuts

Nuts are a high-calorie and high-fat food, and eating just a handful of any type of nut will add several hundred calories to your intake right there. However, the type of fats that are in nuts is essential and important for your hormone and brain health. Additionally, nuts are packed with other important nutrients that you need. They also will keep you full so they really are a perfect morning or afternoon, or even an evening snack for you to stay full for a while.

2. Bananas

Bananas are starchy fruit and a small one is about 100 calories which is high for a piece of fruit. However, what people don’t understand about bananas is that they have consisted of resistant starch which does not cause your blood sugar to rise. Bananas are full of important nutrients and have plenty of potassium that you need. Bananas help keep you full and you can start off the day right with cutting up a banana and putting it in your oatmeal.

3. Butter

If you are thinking of using margarine to put in your toast, opt for the butter instead. Margarine may be lower in fat but it is not even food and it is one molecule away from plastic! Butter may be higher in fat but it is real food and has other important nutrients such as calcium since it is dairy. And butter provides you with the fats that you do need!

4. Dried Fruit

Nutritionists have stated that dried fruit is full of sugar and it not the best option for a snack. However, even though there is a lot of sugar in dried fruit, it is loaded with important nutrients such as folate, Vitamins A and C, as well as fiber and potassium. The trick is to not go crazy with it when you are snacking on it. Moderation is and will always be the key to dried fruit and for everything else.

5. Peanut Butter

Peanut butter is high in fat and calories as one tablespoon is about 100 calories alone. But the thing that people don’t realize about it is that it is filling and high in nutrients. In fact, those who eat peanut butter on a regular basis are less likely to be obese than those who don’t eat it due to the fact it is filling and good for you. Put some peanut butter on your toast and remember not to go crazy with it.

Remember that moderation is the key when you are eating anything!!
