“Always remember, your focus determines your reality.” ~George Lucas
Do you know how easy it is to be distracted from what is happening in the world? If you’re anything like me, you might be allowing that to affect you during the day. And it is all subconscious, at least on some level, so you may not even be aware of the fact that you are being distracted from other things – important things that you need to get done!
Are you struggling to stay focused? If so, I’ve got some good news for you. Fortunately, there are 5 easy methods that you can utilize in order to stay focused so you can finish your tasks and give them your undivided attention. Let’s go over those right now.
5 Ways to Stay Focused
1. Make Plans For Your Day The Night Before
What do you need to have done in the next day? Don’t leave it until then to do it. Plan for it the night before and write it down. This way, you will be aware of the fact that the task needs to be tackled and you won’t forget. Because if you intend to do something the next day without planning for it and writing it down, you will forget. And you will allow a distraction to make you forget.
2. Get The Most Difficult Things Out Of The Way First
If you are dreading a particular task and that is on your mind which is distracting you from the other things you need to do- the easy solution is to get it out of the way and over with first. This way, you won’t have this hanging over your head. And you will be able to focus on the other stuff.
3. Don’t Respond To Texts Immediately Unless It Is An Emergency
If you get a text from a friend and it is not an emergency while you are in the middle of working or doing some task, don’t respond to it. At least not immediately. Otherwise, it will be a back and forth conversation and you will see how much time you have wasted. You can also just politely tell them that you are working at the moment and you will talk to them later. They will understand. The same goes for checking social media.
4. Eat Healthy Foods And Exercise
The fact of the matter is, lifestyle can determine how focused you are. If you eat healthy foods with vitamins, minerals, and that are complex carbs, that will be much better for your mind and body than eating sugary and processed foods. Get some exercise in the morning as well by going for a brisk walk or a run. It will clear your mind.
5. Don’t Forget Your Goals
Keep reminding yourself of your ultimate goals each day, and if you do that, you have a much better chance of staying focused.
Bonus tip: A good night’s sleep will help you stay focused as well. Do your best to achieve that.
