Murphy’s Law is a well-known quote that states that “things will go wrong in any given situation, if you give them a chance,” or more commonly, “whatever can go wrong, will go wrong.” Of course, over the years, a number of variants on the rule have been shared.
When you think about it, Murphy’s Law is really a very interesting concept, though the commonly accepted definition is quite a sad one. According to the Oxford Dictionary, the definition is “A supposed law of nature, expressed in various humorous popular sayings, to the effect that anything that can go wrong will go wrong.”
This definition is very negative, and if you live by it, so might your life be. But the movie Interstellar offers a more neutral definition of this, which can be taken more positively.
In the movie, the main character, Joseph Cooper, says that “Murphy’s Law doesn’t mean something bad will happen. It means that whatever can happen, will happen.”
Joseph Cooper’s definition is much better than Oxford’s, don’t you think? This definition from Interstellar can be turned into something extremely positive if you allow it to. Murphy’s law can affect you and everything around you.
How can you use Murphy’s Law to your advantage?
Murphy’s Law plays a huge part in your life when you really think about it. Basically, anything that could ever have the potential to happen in your life is possible. Now, applying it to a person and their path in life doesn’t necessarily work, but it does mean you have the potential to do whatever you want!
If everything that can happen will happen, that means you can make those things happen. For example, if you have a job interview coming up, Murphy’s Law states that anything that can happen will happen. This means that you very well could fail that job interview, sure. But it also means that you could get the job. Both have the potential to happen. Do you see where I’m going with this?
The Law of Attraction and Murphy’s Law
The Law of Attraction, down to its most basic definition, essentially states that if you believe in something, or if you’re very focused on something, you will attract that to yourself. In this case, Murphy’s law being applied to life states that you definitely have the potential to have both good and bad things happen. Once you understand that, you can attract either one to yourself.
So, for example, if you choose to believe that you in fact will get the job when you are going for the interview, then you will!
Believing in Murphy’s Law opens up a gate to the law of attraction.
Bottom line? As long as you believe you have the potential to do anything, you can! Always believe in the positive things, and expect them. This is how you will succeed! You can do anything you want to.
You go get that job! You go get yourself a promotion! You go succeed in your auditions! Wherever you need to succeed in life, you will! Just remember the law of attraction. You can do anything you want if you just believe in yourself!
